Mixed SF Dear readers, Summer is flying by and I have been doing nothing but making memories. Someone pinch me? I can't believe that the boy, who a year ago, literally wrote the saddest of diary entries, is now writing happy things. What is life? What is Dom Baza? Yes, I stole that from Drax in Avengers Infinity War. Don't sue me Disney. I actually went out on a Friday night last week. I never go out on Friday's. You know it is kinda hard when you are in a relationship and your other half is not anywhere near you in the country. That didn't stop me though. I took my sister Courtney and we went out and had a blast! It's been nice to have her by my side all summer long. We get to experience things and go to fun events like influencer night at this new pop up bar, Mixed. I got an invite and thought it was a joke. I literally laughed and said they got the wrong person. I guess now that my social profile is rising weekly, it feels like a completely new ball game for me. I'm not used to getting a seat at the party. I obviously made room in my schedule and accepted the invite. Boy am I glad I went, because for a guy who is blind in one eye, I enjoyed seeing some color for the first time in awhile, with my good eye. This felt like a much needed bridge for me. Going to mixed was the perfect way to bridge the first half of summer and the last half of summer. I have been doing nothing but shooting collabs and exploring SF for the past 12 weeks now. To top it off, after I attended this event I just booked 6 more collabs. So i'll be doing more exploring and learning for the last half of summer. May I remind you, it is still July and there is still way over a month left of summer. So I hope more bookings keep coming for me, because I don't want to get off this train anytime soon. Mixed may be a pop a bar, but I hope that it gets to be in SF permanently. As soon as we walked in there was candy and I legit knew the night was gonna be good. I had a long day of traveling back to SF. I needed to leave town for 24 hours and took an Amtrak from Sac to SF. A total of 3 trains and over 2 hours to make sure I attended Social Influencer night. This was my first time being at a location with people who are in the same industry and do similar things that I do. I have't been in a room with my peers since 2014 when my 2nd album was released. This was interesting for me because it wasn't the music industry, it was the social influencing industry. This an industry that I have been working my hardest at breaking into, since I got sick. It was nice to feel like, hey, you have been doing great lately, here is an award, go to this party. My other half basically does this every week for work, so I finally felt like I was in P's shoes. Courtney and I explored the pop up bar and we were greeted to cotton candy. My sister loves cotton candy, so that was already another win for the night. It was open bar and obviously I had to grab a stella, because duh, partners, lol. But we did get to try this cocktail. I forget the name, but the mixer said that it was the sweetest one on the menu. It sure was, cause we ended up having more fun than expected! If you want evidence just look at our Photo Booth pictures. Courtney and I haven't entered a Photo Booth since we were teens visiting SF way back when. Like I said, i'm all about making memories and such. This right here was the perfect addition to my 2018 scrapbook. Yes, I make them. I know that is for old people, but guys, i'm surrounded by old people all the time. They are pretty cool, plus I need activities when i'm receiving my treatment. I'm not just gonna sit at the hospital and read about you know who. That's what the news is for. I people watch, I've been pretty open about that. It is one of my habits that I have, it helps me write and be able to write music. I just looked around the room while Courtney took some pictures and took in the vibe of everyone. It was honestly strange to see people do what I do. Like, when I shoot I never see people take out their phones and talk to them to engage with their following. I saw a lot of that at mixed. It was an honor to be in an environment with like minded people. Each of us are different kind of influencers and we all stand for different things. It's great that there was a night for us to just be on one level and let loose. What a better way to get lost in translation and be able to mingle with your peers and have a nice drink in a colorful and impactful environment. You guys know I don't like to write about things or people that I don't want to include unless they have a true purpose for this story. I like good people, I like to partner with great companies and brands, and I love to speak up about causes that are important to me. Mix that all together and put a cherry on top with music, then you get Mr, Dom Baza. Speaking of good people Stephen Hansen Jr and Julia O are 2 of the nicest people I got to meet at Mixed. Stephen is one of the partners at mixed and Julia invited me to this event. Both are true artists and influencers in their own right. Stephen is an incredible writer, I read some of his poetry, as a songwriter I know he's the real deal. Julia is inspiring all of us with her content that spans the bay and LA, as she is one of the top social influencers in the game. I hope that more people get to find out about this little hidden (for now) gem. Because good people mixed with their hard work and incredible talent, deserve to be supported and what an awesome way to support by having fun at events like this, at Mixed. You don't want to know about our night after the fun at mixed. I'll leave that for a song, let's just say the fun didn't stop and I didn't get home until the next morning. So thank you mixed, for giving me a place to let loose before I dive back into work (as if i'm not already doing that behind the scenes). This may have been a work night, but it was fun one in the city by the bay, shared with great people, a nice drink, oh and BOBBA. How I could I forget that! Best thing you can do is keep busy and see your circle of people while you receive treatment. You’re looking amazing.
