3 Years Of MRDOMBAZA.COM

2/2/2017

Hello everyone, Wow! Can you believe it's been 3 years since I opened up this blog and purchased this domain. Watching it grow very slowly and much more rapidly recently has been so gratifying. This blog of mine is like a slow burn, but a good slow burn. In honor of mrdombaza.com's 3rd anniversary, I will be showing you guys my top 3 all time favorite shoots/outfits, my top 3 favorite holiday looks, my top 3 themed outfits/shoots, and my top 3 honorable mentions. This is a different post than my others, it's more of a stroll down memory lane. Let's dive into this and celebrate 96 outfits/posts and 3 years of mrdombaza.com and what's to come.

Top 3 All Time Favorite Outfits/Shoots

NUMBER 1: Finding Gold
Original Post Date:
6/12/2015

I chose "Finding Gold" as my number one post for many reasons. I loved this shoot so much. I love old school films and the idea that I looked like I was in a period type outfit was everything. From the suspenders, the boots, and the beautiful scenery, this shoot has always been my number one pick. I shot this in Spring 2015, but it looks like it's perfect for Fall! If you check out the full post you will see I did not go in depth like my recent posts, but it's still a nice post to look at the photos! That shoot was so fun! I wish I had BTS videos still, it was a literal blast being in another time period for a day. Also, Check out Coloma California! This is where this shoot was done. It's such a beautiful place for photos!

NUMBER 2: Finding Bonita
Original Post Date: 6/17/2016

I must having a thing for using the word "Finding" in my titles. This outfit is so simple, but I loved this shoot so much. Shooting at the Point Bonita light house was one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had. Looking out at the ocean and seeing the golden gate from a distance gave me chills. It still gives me chills thinking about it. The location is stunning and if you are ever in SF you really need to visit and take photos there. Something about that place just gave my heart so much hope for a better tomorrow. When i'm down, I look at photos from this shoot because it reminds me of the beautiful inspiration I found at Point Bonita. Also, I loved wearing this David Beckham jacket! I wear it a lot since we did this shoot, It's literally one of my favorite items in my closet.

NUMBER 3: Easter 2015
Original Post Date: 4/3/2015

Easter 2015 has always stuck out to me. It was and still is one of the outfits I'm most proud of. I loved this whole combination of colors. The peach color with the light blue button down shirt and blue jcrew blazer is still a huge win for me! I got to do this shoot on a little island I grew up on called Mare Island. My dad has an airblasting/paint company there and I've shot numerous outfits and music videos there. It's basically my home and this shoot was a sweet homecoming for me. Easter is a beautiful time to reflect on life and the world around us. Looking back on this shoot, I am reflecting on how different my life was then, and how things can change so much over the course of 2 years. I can't believe this was 2 years ago. It's amazing how it feels like it was just yesterday.

NUMBER 1:
"On Wednesdays We Wear Pink"

Original Post Date:
4/30/2014

This post and shoot will always be one of my all time favorites! I LOVE "Mean Girls" and this was made in honor of the films 10th anniversary. This shoot was done in Napa, CA at my favorite local bakery "Buttercream". They have this pretty pink building and I knew it would be perfect to shoot a Mean Girls tribute with this classic pink diner as my backdrop. It's now 2017 and I'm still trying to make fetch happen, aha. But let's be real, "Mean Girls" is such a classic and we really should wear pink on Wednesdays.

NUMBER 2:
"Dorthy Gale Is Not In Kansas"

Original Post Date:
5/19/2014

As you all already know I have a thing for fairytales and magical stories. "The Wizard Of Oz" was such a staple of my childhood. When I first opened mrdombaza.com I wanted to pay tribute to this masterpiece of a classic, but from a male Dorthy Gale perspective. I loved putting together this outfit and shooting in the ruins of the torn down buildings on Mare Island. It's 2017 and these locations I shot at no longer exists. I always look back at this shoot and think about how lucky I was to shoot there before it was completely torn down. Seriously though, how cool is this location. I loved being Dorthy and getting lost in Oz for a day. I would do it again in a heart beat. Plus, I still dig this look :)

NUMBER 3:
"Inspired By Walt & Mickey"

Original Post Date"
8/4/2014

One day I was  I was bored so I decided to google one of my heroes, Walt Disney. I wanted to get inspiration for a shoot and stumbled upon this pic of Walt & Mickey.

I loved it so much I wanted to create a look and shoot based around that specific photo. This is one of the rare times that you see my eyes before It got really bad. I cherish this photo and this shoot because when I think of Walt, Mickey, and Disney I am reminded to never give up hope and never stop fighting my battle with this disease and my battle to thrive with my careers. I grew up with everything Disney. I am A proud Disney nerd and fanatic. This shoot was just a little dedication for the man who created an empire that inspires me every single day.

                          Top 3 Holiday Outfits/Shoots

 NUMBER 1:
"California Christmas"

Original Post Date:
12/19/2015

Everyone know's I love Christmas. I mean did you see my recent Christmas feed on instagram?  It's my favorite holiday. I loved this adorable sweater from UNIQLO. This whole shoot was a mixture of summer, winter, and fall. If you see the rest of the photos you'll understand what I mean. There's something about this shoot that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, but at the same time ready to head out to the beach. It's def not always sunny here in California but this day was shining extra bright for this special shoot. PS: I wrapped all those presents :)

NUMBER 2:
"What Are You Doing
New Years Eve"

Original Post Date"
12/31/2014

This shoot had me feeling like James Bond. I loved the way these photos turned out! Before I was in SF, Sac town was the main home base for mrdombaza.com. I had been through a very rough year with my eye in 2014 and to spend so much time getting my mind off of the pain, Sacramento was a nice distraction. This suit was so well fitted and I loved the way it looked on me in the photos. I believe in a classic New Year, and this right here is a classic New Year. Also, I ended up with a terrible flu after these photos were taken, it was freezing outside... But at least I lived my James Bond moment before 2015 arrived.

NUMBER 3:
"Merica The Brave"

Original Post Date:
7/4/2014

In light of recent events in this country, I will still stand by my word and say America is brave and will get through this obstacle we are in. We are brave and we are strong. America will always fight for what is right. This is the land of the free, and we as citizens will find a way to make sure it stays that way. No matter what our president may say, We are all beautiful and can pursue the things we love and the people we love. We are all unique and special in our own way and no higher authority will tell us otherwise. Remember you are loved no matter what religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, or size we may be or have. I look back at this post and think we are MERICA THE BRAVE, Let's be brave and keep moving forward.

NUMBER 1:
"It's Not That Easy Being Green"

Original Post Date: 1/ 17/2017

I chose this as my "number 1" because of what the post means to me. This for me was the first post I really opened up to all of you, my readers. I will always use this post as a template to remind myself to write with my heart and give you something worth the read. I see this blog as a platform to spread awareness for my disease, but also have my voice heard in a way that could inspire people. My biggest goal in life is to make an impact in this world. I hope that posts like "It's Not That Easy Being Green" could make that sort of impact when I one day get the bigger platform I desire. The feedback on this post made me so emotional. Thinking of the comments and beautiful words I received makes me tear up as I type. I thank you for loving posts like "green". I hope to continue to find a way to inspire you guys and try to make my mark on this world  with my voice.

NUMBER 2:
"Summer Blues"
Original Post Date: 9/5/2015

I chose this post as my number 2 for these reasons. That location gives me chills. That view was incredible. Looking over the edge of that cliff and seeing the beauty that god has created made me emotional. I was going through a really rough time here. This was my last shoot before I had to take 4 months away due to my 2nd major eye surgery in 2015. I will never forget standing on that edge and crying praying that I will be okay with the surgery that was about to be done. I'll never forget this shoot. I'll always love this summer look as well. I can't believe this was 2 years ago. One things for sure, I'm defiantly not feeling as blue as I was then.

NUMBER 3:
"Autumn Is Here"

Original Post Date
10/7/2016

As you all know, Fall is my favorite season of the year. I wanted to give a s/o to this outfit and shoot. I had so much fun putting together this look. I loved the locations we shot at for this. Every once in a while, I have these little moments to myself when we are shooting. I remember I had a moment looking around the bay thinking where is my life headed? I hope for so much things to happen in my life and I'm big believer in having faith. Something about this shoot here will always remind me of that special feeling I had. I can still feel that fall breeze along the hair of my arms. That feeling of optimism for the rest of fall and the year. Even though things may not seem right, right now, they will eventually work out and in that moment everything will be how it's supposed to be, just like the fall breeze that always sticks with me.
